Every year we participate in the annual Safer Internet Day to raise awareness of online safety and all children at Barham receive online lessons as part of the computing and PSHE curriculum.
While online safety should be a year-round priority, this national event offers a moment to come together and address critical issues impacting young people today.
This year’s theme, “Too Good to Be True? Protecting Yourself and Others from Scams Online,” highlights the growing need to stay vigilant in an increasingly digital world. With technology evolving rapidly, including tools like generative AI, scammers are finding new ways to exploit vulnerabilities online. Safer Internet Day encourages us to reflect on key questions such as:
How will advancements like generative AI shape the tactics used by scammers?
What steps can the government and internet industry take to combat these threats?
What changes would young people like to see to better protect themselves online?
At NPCAT, we believe education and awareness are vital to helping students navigate the digital world safely. Safer Internet Day is a chance to empower our young people with the knowledge and tools they need to stay safe online, while also amplifying their voices about the changes they want to see in online safety.
